A Patient'southward Story:
"The story of my hip starts when I was in the second grade. It was my second twelvemonth in Oregon after moving from Denver. Sports were my favorite thing and I played every one that I peradventure could. During the wintertime basketball flavor, I began to take a lot of pain in my leg especially with my hip. I went to my pediatric medico and he recommended we see a specialist. Not much longer I was diagnosed with Legg Perthes disease which acquired avascular necrosis of my femur head. We started a treatment program with a orthopedic surgeon in Portland and the surgeries commenced. For the adjacent three years I had multiple surgeries. The program was working and my pain was condign less and mobility was getting meliorate until another wrench was thrown into the film. Every bit I entered middle school the femur head had come back to life and regrown abnormal and besides big.
This is where my journey took a much different turn. My surgeon in Portland had reached his limit of expertise. My parents began to search elsewhere around the state to find a specialist that could help me. I was walking at this point, just non without extreme pain. This is when my parents discovered Dr. Dror Paley . He was just starting a new dispensary all the style across the state in West Palm Beach FL. He offers a specialty surgery called a femoral head reduction that he had performed on other kids with Legg Perthes. The summer before going into 6th class we went out at that place and got the surgery done. At that place were complications with the surgery and I had to accept a external fixator put on to stabilize. By the next summer, avascular necrosis returned to the hip and the following summertime we were headed back to west palm embankment. After several more than surgeries nosotros reached an cease point and tried using a synthetic bone graft and it ended up fusing my hip.
For the next 7 years I lived with a fused hip. There was no pain which dramatically increased my quality of life just it came at to price of no movement in my hip. I constitute ways to arrange to what I had, and made the best of the situation. I couldn't play all the sports I loved every bit a young kid just I found new sports that brought me enjoyment. I played varsity golf game and spent countless weekends skiing and hiking. My agile lifestyle began to accept a toll on my human knee and my lower back, which were compensating for the lack of move in the hip. Searching to preserve my active lifestyle, the right decision was to go my hip replaced. I sought out renowned hip replacement adept, Dr. Jason Weisstein at the Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence. My family and I made the trip from Oregon. It feels great to be able to motility my hip with substantially no hurting. The journey has lasted most of my life and I believe that the hip replacement has been a great solution. I wait frontward to the years ahead. Dr. Weisstein and all his staff in both his role and the hospital were great. All I can say is give thanks you for everything."
